They were unsure about offering pole dancing lessons at first because of its reputation. Their pole dancing lessons are carried out very tastefully they boast that they even have grannies in their 50s doing it.
Pole dancing is a great upper body workout and is a different and fun work out. It’s great for people who don’t enjoy going to the gym.

History of pole dancing – part 2

Posted on 26 July 2009 by Miss Pole Dance

Pole dance through the years

The first pole dance on record was in 1968 by Belle Jangles at the Mugwump strip club in Oregon but the style of pole dancing as we know it today is thought to have come from Canada’s lap dancing and table dancing clubs of the 1980s.
The first instructional pole dancing DVD was produced buy Fawnia Mondey who was originally from Canada and one of the first pole dancing champions in the 1990s.
Pole dancing spread like wildfire though Canada and the US and then the rest of the world the North American idea of lap dancing and table dancing clubs spread with the help of companies such as the Spearmint Rhino.

In the 1990’s lap dancing and exotic table dancing clubs in the UK started to add pole dancing to their acts.
Modern pole dancing involves dancing around a vertical pole combining acrobatics and strength with sensual feminine dance.
Pole dancing has probably made the biggest leap forward since 2000 in terms of loosing its stigma and it has recently begun to spread out of the strip clubs into the mainstream finding new homes in theatre and cabaret.

In 2006 pole fitness came on the scene, which took pole dancing to the masses.
The emphasis on pole dancing as a form of exercise further helped remove its taboo and distanced it from older sleazier preconceptions.
Pole dancing is now an activity that women regularly enjoy without the sordid stigma that used to be attached to pole dance.
Pole Dancing lessons take place in many towns across the UK offering a sexy, fun alternative to traditional aerobics or dance classes. In fact many everyday women now use pole dancing as part of their fitness regime.

Many women also practice pole dancing from the comfort of their own home. Some start with lessons at first to get some experience and then practice at home on their own dance pole. However there are many pole dancing DVDs which can use to learn pole dance at home.  It is really easy to get hold of a dance pole and you have a choice of permanent or removable poles.
National and international pole dancing competitions such as “Miss Pole Dance” have helped to promote pole dancing as a professional, respectable dance form.

Pole dancing is becoming more and more accepted by society and loose its taboo and in recent years pole dancing has become a very popular and enjoyable form of exercise and a fun hen night or party activity.

Where to Buy Dance Poles

Posted on 08 July 2009 by Miss Pole Dance

Buying and assembling your own dance pole is easy. Here’s a quick run down of where you can buy your very own dance pole.
Pole dancing is a great form of exercise and is a fun way to get fit. More and more dance schools and gyms are offering pole dancing lessons which is great.

However it’s not the only way to learn pole dancing or to practice. You could buy your own dance pole. Getting hold of a dance pole is easier than you might think and home dance poles are surprisingly easy to put up. Most simply fit between the floor and ceiling and hold themselves in place with pressure

Dance Pole Sellers

There are four main sellers of dance poles:

  • X-Pole
  • Carmen Electra Pole
  • Platinum Stages
  • Lil’ Mynx

They all sell portable dance poles online.
All of the poles can be quickly put up and are easy to take down (useful if you want to use it in the living room and then hide it away).
They are all also light enough to move around.

X-Pole, Platinum Stages and Lil’ Mynx sell the more professional variety of pole. The poles can be easily made longer or shorter to fit most ceilings. They can also be changed from static to spinning.

Carmen Electra Pole is great for beginners and more suitable for doing easier moves. It’s a great choice if you are wanting to buy a dance pole as a present.

While all providers generally ship worldwide it may be easier to choose a provider that is based in the same country as you.

  • X Pole and Carmen Electra Pole are shipped from the UK.
  • Platinum Stages and Lil’ Mynx are shipped from the US.
